October 12 Ghost Cult Mag premiered single “How is Your Heart?”

New York City’s The Morning Sea are releasing their new album Destructive Songs, the third in their career, on November 2nd. The self-proclaimed “Gotham Americana” band flexes their style with a multitude of influences but are mainly a stew of subversive, infectious and clever alternative rock and folk music. Ghost Cult is proud to partner with the band today to debut their new single “How Is Your Heart?”, right now!

You can buy the track right now and pre-order the album from Spotify here. They recently premiered the first single in the form of a crowd-sourced dance footage music video – ‘(I’ve Invented A) Maneuver’. They will be playing their hometown record release show Oct 30th atMercury Lounge NY, w/ Bird Streets.

Destruction Songs, was recorded in producer/engineer Andy Baldwin’s (Bjork, St. Lucia, HAERTS, Morcheeba) cabin studio in upstate New York. Recorded mostly live over the course of a long weekend – with some additional recording done at Baldwin’s Brooklyn studio, Rola Pola. Although the music of The Morning Sea sounds upbeat and sunny at times, there is an underlying melancholy that runs through some of the tracks, with themes of hope, despair, love, loss, regret, and redemption. The album will be self-released by the band on November 2.

Austin Lucas premieres new music video "My Mother and The Devil"

September 11 New Noise premiered Austin Lucas’ music video for his song “My Mother and The Devil” (watch it below). The track is taken from his latest album, Immortal Americans, which is available now through Cornelius Chapel Records.

“The album was written in no small part as tribute to the quickly changing region of Indiana I grew up in,” Lucas told Noisey. “I deliberately placed this body of work, squarely between the darkness of where I once saw my place in the world, and the light that I see myself moving towards now.”

Austin Lucas is currently on tour with his band The Bold Party. You can check out his upcoming tour dates here.

The Morning Sea drops new music video via New Noise

September 25 - New Noise ran the premiere of The Morning Sea’s music video for their song “(I’ve invented a) Maneuver” – watch it below. The track is taken from the band’s album Destruction Songs, which is scheduled to be released later this Fall.

The band commented on the video:

The video for ‘(I’ve invented a) Maneuver’ is a DIY dance party. Featuring members of The Morning Sea and others dancing in black and white with flashes of color, the footage was culled together through crowd-sourced video submissions from friends and followers via a call-to-action on social media. The song itself arrived one day on a lark in the rehearsal room, when the band started riffing on an old bit by the comedian Eddie Izzard about the invention of the Heimlich Maneuver. We decided the best way to compliment this song which was born out of pure joy and silliness would be with a music video that exudes the same spirit.Destruction Songs, the third album by The Morning Sea, was recorded in producer/engineer Andy Baldwin’s (Bjork, St. Lucia, HAERTS, Morcheeba) cabin studio in upstate New York. Recorded mostly live over the course of a long weekend – with some additional recording done at Baldwin’s Brooklyn studio, Rola Pola – these songs capture the band in their most vibrant and creative state, feeding off of each other’s impulses and recreating the energetic vibe of their live shows. Musically the album is upbeat and electrifying, save for the final track which serves as a sort of cool-down reflection on what’s come before. Meanwhile, singer/songwriter Adam Cohen’s lyrics cover themes of hope, despair, love, loss, regret, and redemption.

No Depression Premieres BEiTTHEMEANS Full EP, Out Friday via CORNELIUS CHAPEL RECORDS

BEiTTHEMEANS' breakout EP Alabama Calling is the jewel crowning 15 years of crafting triumphantly authentic rock'n'roll. Recorded at Sonic Lounge Studios, the album has a rock solid radio quality showcasing the Alabama trio's dynamic blues-infused yet melodic metal songwriting with lyrics and aesthetic flowing effortlessly from working-class blues to the occult. They procure austere yet dark, southern rock-n-roll in a black metal vein. A true power trio that stays on the road and has been paying their dues for over a decade picking up voracious fans along the way.

"'The Black (2018)' was recorded on a Neve, it's the best we’ve ever sounded in a studio. I wanted to make the strongest album I could imagine. You could hear this song on the radio, but it’s not cheesy. Strong so you couldn’t refuse it. A stepping stone to get people to go back in time and check out what we’ve done for years and years." The band adds. “I want people to make what they want of the songs, I hope they don’t take where they come from or even where they live for granted because it’s something special. Being in a band you’re just going off hope that something works. I got the idea to write “Alabama Calling” when I was driving home from tour and “Sweet Home Alabama” came on and I just wanted to write about how it made me feel… No matter who you are you’ll miss home. With "Blue Collar", it's kinda a working-class song. Seems like everything's coming at you constantly. We realize that none of us are more important than the song. We’re gonna die and be forgotten about. But the song is gonna live on. Those things are always gonna be here. In between now and then just chasing the neon rainbow living the honky tonk dream. I’m just a nobody trying to be somebody. If it’s in your blood you just gotta do it.”

Do it, and do it well. It's about time there's been a broken mold in the chasm. BEiTTHEMEANS combines sonic forces for a refreshing take on power blues and down-home, power-driving rock'n'roll. A mere cycle through the EP below explains that in droves, far better than any hack writer sitting at a keyboard. Y'all enjoy...

Out 8/31 on Cornelius Chapel Records, get some here! Catch them on the road starting next week with like-minded Swedish metal gods Mustach.

HECTORINA premieres music video via GHOST CULT

"Up and coming Charlotte, NC based rock band Hectorina is dropping a new album, Muck, this Friday, June 1st. In advance of the release, the band has partnered up with Ghost Cult to drop their new music video for their song ‘Beyond The Trees’.

The band commented:

Written during the 2016 election cycle, this album is inspired by the sound and attitudes of 90’s post-rock, post-punk and classic pop rock. Muck explores repetition, despondence, and trying to find peace of mind in this murky modern America.”

Calling to mind the best indie and alt-rock bands from the 1990s, Hectorina seamlessly filters these flavors into a sound uniquely their own. They have performed with many high-profile acts including Sylvan EssoBlitzen Trapper, and The Ataris, and even created a rock opera Collywobble. They have also appeared at Hopscotch Music Festival, CMJ Music Marathon, Indie Grits Film Festival and more events. You can follow the band order their new album from Bandcamp: When you preorder vinyl from http://hectorina.bandcamp.com/ you’ll receive (1) a mix cd-r of outtakes, b-sides and demos (2) a custom lyric sheet and (3) stickers with your purchase."
